Delete a Custom Retention Policy for a Team

If you no longer have a need to retain team Messenger messages, you can delete a custom retention policy in the Compliance module in the Team Admin Console. Messages already defined for retention in the custom retention policy are retained until the retention period elapses.

Complete the following procedure to delete an existing custom retention policy.

  1. In the Custom Retention Policies table on the Retention page in the Compliance module, in the Team Admin Console, select a custom retention policy in the Rule Name column.
  2. In the Group Action drop-down list on the Action bar, click Delete. The Delete Custom Retention Confirmation dialog is displayed.
  3. Click Delete. The custom retention policy is deleted.

Note: The custom retention policy already applied to messages is not removed when the custom retention policy is deleted. Those messages are retained until the original custom retention period applied has elapsed.
