Identifying a Read Message

In Messenger, the green, orange, or gray dot on the top and left corner of the sent message indicates the read or unread status of your message. If the color is gray, it denotes that the message is unread. A green dot indicates that your message has been read.

If the message was sent to a contact group, an orange dot indicates that some (and not all) of the contacts have read your message.

  1. On your smartphone, perform a long press on the sent message. The Message Info  icon is displayed on the Message Information bar at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Tap the Message Info  icon to view the message delivery time and read time on the TRACE tab of the Message Info screen.

On Desktop for Web or the Desktop App, click the More  icon on your message, and then click Info. On the Message Info dialog, click the Trace tab to view message delivery and status information.

Note: If you are a recipient of a message with applied policies, you can only view the message only on Desktop App for Windows®, and Mac® or smartphones for iPhone®, AndroidTM. Messages with message delivery policies cannot be viewed in Desktop for Web.
