Creating Message Control Templates

On the Templates page in the Message Control module in the Enterprise Admin Console, you can create message control templates to apply message control policies for message delivery, access, interaction, and expiry. As an Enterprise Admin, you can publish message control templates to make them available for users and groups in your domain.

When you open the Templates page, all message control templates are displayed in an interactive table. In the Template Name column, you can click a template to modify the settings, or in the Status column, you can click the drop-down arrow and select a new Status. You can also create new templates, or if needed, delete existing message control templates.

The following illustration is an example of the Templates page in the Message Control module.

This section describes the commands available on the Action bar.

The list of entries in an admin console table can be very large depending on the size of your company, for example, a list of users or teams. To find one or more templates, in the Search field, enter at least three characters and then press enter.

Note: The number of search terms in a search query is unlimited, however, no more than the first 20 characters of each search term is used to return search results.

To view all entries, clear the search field, and then press the Enter key.

Click Add New to display the Create New Message Control Template dialog that you can use to create and assign a message control template for users and groups in your domain. For more information, see Create a Message Control Template

Select one or more message control templates to delete, and then in the Group Action drop-down list on the Action bar, click Delete. For more information, see Delete a Message Control Template.

To sort the list of column values, click the Arrow Up  icon or Arrow Down  icon to the right of a column name. The following list describes the columns displayed in the admin console table.

Column Description
Template Name Displays the message control template name as a link that you can click to display the Edit Message Control Template - < Template Name > dialog. For more information, see Modify a Message Control Template.

    • Unpublished - The message control template is not available to the users or groups assigned. This Status is only available when you create a new message control template to use while you are working on the template before making it available to users and groups. Select Publish in the drop-down list to change the Status to Published.
    • Published - The message control template is available for assigned users and groups. After all users and groups are removed from the item, you can select Retire in the drop-down list to change the Status to Unpublished.
    • Retired - The template was published previously, but was removed from use. Select Publish in the drop-down list to make the template available to users and groups.
Shared With Displays the users and groups assigned to use the message control template as a link that you can click to open the Edit Message Control Template - < Template Name > dialog on the Shared With tab.
